HAMILTON, Bermuda, June 1, 2004 – The National Dance Foundation of Bermuda (NDFB) announced today that Oscar-winning actress and Bermuda resident Catherine Zeta-Jones has joined its Board of Directors. Ms. Zeta-Jones, who won an Academy Award in 2003 for her performance in the hit movie musical “Chicago”, studied dance from an early age and has performed in a wide variety of stage and screen productions involving dance. She and her husband, Michael Douglas, have a home in Bermuda. NDFB Chairman Don Kramer said that Ms Zeta-Jones accepted his invitation to become a part of the NDFB Board because she believes in its vision of providing world-class training opportunities to Bermuda’s exceptional dancers. “We aim to give every aspiring dancer in Bermuda the chance to study with teachers from the best dance companies in the world,” said Mr. Kramer, “and we will be offering these classes right here in Bermuda. This means that dance students from the many schools and companies on the island will have access to world-class training opportunities without having to travel abroad. “We are so pleased that Catherine has agreed to join us and wants to lend her name, and her time when she can, to establishing programmes that will nurture Bermuda’s exceptional dance talent.” “The new direction that the National Dance Foundation of Bermuda is taking is an exciting one. With more than 20 years’ experience in providing quality dance experiences to the island’s young people, we are now poised to establish programmes that will develop the island’s exceptional dancers, providing them with a career option if they want it. This initiative benefits any dancer who wants to study seriously The National Dance Foundation of Bermuda, a non-profit organization registered with the Bermuda Charities Commission, is dedicated to the development of exceptional dancers and choreographers in Bermuda. |
